Rocky Mountain Elk: Welcome

TEHACHAPI UNIT

Sierra Crest Outfitters Guides and Outfits the Tehachapi zone. 2023 was the first year tags were offered. The tag quota is 5 bull and 10 antlerless. Trophy opportunity is 350 plus but there are several 400 inch class bulls in the range with a handful being on our ranches each year. With limited access to public land, the majority of the elk will be on private lands. SCO has over 11,000 acres combined of private ranches in the area with all having trophy potential on them. Lodging is available that will include warm meals and a place to rest. Antlerless hunts are available on our ranches.

The SCO team have lived in the Tehachapi range their entire lives and know it more then anyone else in the business. Since before the range became a unit, they have patterned and picked up world class sheds each year. Some of the biggest bulls in the west have been on this range and SCO has access to the best ranches that give you the best opportunity for a world class Bull. Limited spots will be available for a trophy class elk for 2024. Give us a call for more information about the zone.

JOSH SCHULGEN (GUIDE)

Josh Schulgen, with one of his clients incredible bulls for the 2023 season. Hunter (who wanted to remain anonymous) hunted two days before deciding on this heavy bull. With over 65 inches of mass and great length, the bull gross 405. Great scouting efforts from the SCO crew was a big factor on harvesting this bull.Guide: Josh Schulgen.

AARON AMATOR

Aaron with his giant non-typical bull from the 2023 season. Aaron watched this bull for a couple days and could not resist the amount of character he had. With length, extras, and mass he checked all the boxes. On the second day of the season he snuck into 35 yards and made a well placed shot to earn him his biggest bull to date grossing 385.

BALINT SZILAGYI

Balint was one lucky guy this year. This was his first year applying for big game and he was one of the 5 lucky tag holders to draw! With not knowing much about the area he gave us a call and the hunt was on. He was accompanied by his friends Johny and Mike. Congrats again on your first big game animal!
Guides: Josh Schulgen & Jake Snyder.

NORMA CARR

Norma was a lucky gal to draw one of the 10 anterless tags. She had her son by her side during the hunt. On day one this big mature cow was located and Norma made the shot count!
